The oral traditions of passing down stories are the backbone of human culture. Our stories provide context, perspective, and healing, and bring us closer in understanding of each other. Through honest storytelling as musicians, songwriters, and singers, we can connect on a level that transcends the boundaries of the spoken word. The effect of versatile musical collaboration is far-reaching, both for the artists participating as well as for the communities involved. Kate has taken her masterclass and workshop series all over the world, facilitating global communities of musicians and performers of different cultures and genres through a shared love of storytelling, creativity, and music.
Songwriting workshops
Basics of songwriting and song structure as well as melodic and chord progression ideas; lyrical ideas, storytelling, and workshopping of songs together. Collaboration is invited and encouraged, utilizing the instrumental and vocal skills of the group. Guest speakers are often invited to discuss instrumentation, recording, production, and more.
All ages and experience levels are welcome. Complete beginners are encouraged. Songwriting is more straightforward than many expect. The goal is to create a supportive and ever-growing community of creative, honest, and kind songwriters to inspire the world.
We are more versatile and creative than we know! We just need the tools and the outlet, and the possibilities are limitless. I have found that community amplifies creativity. Let’s build communities and spread music!

Vocal masterclass
Masterclasses are based on multi-genre explorations of singing and storytelling, as well as identifying commonalities across languages, genres and cultures. The singing voice is an extension of the speaking voice; therefore, effective techniques of communication and performance while utilizing healthy vocal technique and breath control are explored.

These workshops are not only for singers and songwriters, but performers of all instruments, focusing on breath and performance technique, as well as the question of what makes something meaningful. How can we bring meaning to everything we do as performers, whether as actors, instrumentalists, DJs, rappers, or singers? How can we navigate the changing cultural climate in unprecedented times as independent musicians, freelancers, and entrepreneurs?
